Lore

I. A happy home was cast away When heralds' voices cried. Her children wailed their mother's name, For countless kin had died.
II. But duty grasped her heart, her blade; Was never moved by tears. Uncaring ranks engulfed a soul, To grind between war's gears.
IV. Butchers, bakers, merchants, farmers, With swords in trembling hands, Encased in worn out armor's shell And fear's new minted bands.
III. The banners fluttered overhead And cast their glory high. The soldiers marching underneath Had kissed their lives goodbye.
V. How many would be left of them, When battle daubed them red? Miranda gazed at comrades who Could soon be lying dead.
VI. She took her quill and parchment up, To hold their lives in verse, And capture what was best of them, Before their souls disperse.
VII. Each stanza made her courage swell; They strengthened arm and mind. A martial muse emboldened her, And left all fear behind.
VIII. Beneath the eyes of silent stars, Submerged in blood and gore, Amidst the battle's crimson mist, She walked the ways of war.
IX. Her verses saved, her steel dispatched, And wove the bitter tale. They carried her to Dracoshire, To fall or else prevail.
