Lore
"You have been west Kruna's blade, and struck mighty blows against the vile and monstrous foes that beset us. We wish to recognize all that you have accomplished, and bestow upon you this weapon from our vaults. May it serve you well." - Note from King Jamus I |
"May this shield defend you, as you have defended our kingdom. May it turn aside your enemies blades, as you have turned aside those who would ravage our lands and slaughter our subjects. Know that when you raise this in battle, all of West Kruna stands at your shoulder." - Note from King Jarnus I |
West Kruna once lived in subjugation to East Kruna, forced to pay vast tributes as the price for ensuring that King Vorticar's armies wouldn't conquer and annex the kingdom. It was in this dark time that Prince Edmund was born, and he grew up with only one desire burning in his breast: to return West Kruna to its lost glory. |
Prince Edmund earned his famous nickname after his first battle, in which he defeated King Vorticar's army and slew him in single combat. When he walked away from the field, his armor was covered in blood from head to toe. That night, as he slept, his troops painted his armor red in honor of the victory. |
The Red Prince led the men and women of West Kruna on a series of sweeping foreign campaigns, defeating many powerful nations which had long viewed his native land with disdain. It was by his hand, and his martial mind, that West Kruna came to ascendency on Tor'gyyl. |
The Red Prince commanded the loyalty, respect, love, and admiration of his troops in equal measure - something which few other generals could ever hope to accomplish. When his army returned to West Kruna, their campaigns over at last, there was much weeping amongst the ranks. For they would no longer be able to serve him, to fight at his side and earn victories in his name. |
After a life filled with war and battles, the Red Prince died a peaceful death in his homeland - the land he had made strong and wealthy. By the terms of his will, pieces of his armor were given to his comrades as keepsakes, and others put on display in the capital. As for his sword, that was never found. None can say what became of it... |
