| I. Kaantu Geergac was bored one day, so the giant visited a village and threatened to crush the entire settlement unless its inhabitants amused him somehow. Fortunately, one of the villagers -- a gnome engineer visiting from West Kruna -- was an expert in the art of siegecraft, and had been about to demonstrate his catapult. Thus he used the device to hurl a convicted criminal into Kaantu Geergac's maw.
The giant swallowed the hapless murderer and laughed. He went on his way, sparing the village, and everyone thanked the gnome for his cunning. Until the next day, when the giant returned and demanded a repeat performance. The grumbling villagers had no choice but to fling someone else to their doom. This angered them, since that second victim's crime had been nothing more than flatulence, which would likely have sorted itself out with minor changes to the poor fool's diet. | |
