7. Marcia's last fight was arranged to be a group battle, in which she and her allies were to face a rival band of gladiators in a symbolic reenactment of the Battle of Halada. But the clash never took place. For the moment the signal was given, Marcia turned to the crowd, to her legions of supporters, and declared that the time had come for gladiators to be free. Then her comrades and supposed opponents attacked the guards together, while she leapt into the officials' box and slew each and every one of them.
