Immediately following the incident with Valtrias, Rassys broke all the enchantments created that day, and vowed to start anew. First, she prevented the enchanted arrows from charming fellow Heart Menders. Then the goddess of love appointed two of her angelic hosts as heralds instead of a single angel like Valtrias, who had only loved herself as she had loved power and control. Rassys chose Gadrian as the first herald for the next generation of Heart Menders. He was stalwart and headstrong, but under that forward demeanor was a gentle spirit, tempered because of his love for Una.
