Recolor of Bohemond's Set.
You find a bloodied journal among the ruination of the mighty dwarven hold. Flipping through the pages you begin to piece together the events which led to the unfortunate demise of many fine dwarven soldiers and artisans alike.
Through smudges of blood and torn out pages you can make out a passage from the early days of whatever occurred within the hold.
"The doors are sturdy and *blood smears make the next portions illegible for a time*. But the beasts hound us day and night, scratching, clawing, hooting and hollering at our very doorstep. Unthinkable! We'll be sure to take metal to skulls against these beasties the moment we're given the order."
You find many ripped pages in the journal early on, but much of what transpired later appears to be clearer.
"Our first skirmish was successful. Or so we thought. It was a bloody dragon! We should have known their kind would never rest so long as the good races of this realm still draw breath. We thought their kind eradicated by the Dragon-Rider and their kin, but alas, this one managed to escape somehow. We saw the mighty beast in the northern hall barking orders in its vile tongue to the beastmen.
We've sent word for help but know not if our cries shall reach the ears of any with the means to provide the assistance we need."
Flipping the book ahead a few pages you find some additional information regarding the aforementioned dragon.
"The beast appears old, not ancient but certainly far from youth. It likely fought beside its vile kin during the height of the Dragon War. A great wound sits upon the beast's already gnarled face, and where once it sported two eyes there's but one staring at you now with all the malice you'd expect.
We mean to take the fighting to the great beast upon the morrow. It'll feel the bite of fine, dwarven steel once again! A glorious battle to be sure."
The next few pages are splotched with blood, beard hair and burn marks leaving you to assume the assault upon the dragon ended poorly. You are about to toss the heavy journal aside when you spot more text after a long period of blank pages.
"...underestimated the strength of the creature *charred bits of paper and tearing make the next page entirely illegible.*
Perhaps this is how it ends. Brought low by our own hubris. I know my ancestors watch over me in the same halls they once walked."
"The dragon is host to many powerful beastman. The beastmen recognize and respect power above all other things, thus it is no wonder that they are cowed by the bellowing of their draconic masters. We've word that farther in the tunnels, beyond our Feasthall there are countless creatures baying and snorting in the shadows.
Never in my life did I expect to see the end of Ironpeak Halls. A grim day for all."
It’s all you can do to keep the journal from falling apart as you utilize magic to bind the pieces together to the best of your abilities. You find two final pages with legible text near the end, the first one reads as follows.
"...Precious metals lay within the caverns. Mithril. A rare and wondrous mineral sought by many, with specks of the dust produced by the ore you can conjure a mighty spell with grand protective properties."
Further below you find the necessary ingredients and incantations for the spell mentioned in the book. Your dwarven runes are out of practice, but a smile comes to your face as you read the title of the spell aloud: Mithril Beard.
You pick up the final page from the book. It is tattered and bloodied almost beyond use, but you see one name repeatedly written upon the parchment. First in ink, then in blood.
